About the Role
Way to Grow Therapies is seeking a passionate and dedicated Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our growing private practice on a PRN basis. This position is ideal for a clinician seeking clinical autonomy, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to provide meaningful therapy in children's natural environments while receiving ongoing mentorship, clinical support, and access to specialized therapeutic resources.
As a home- and community-based clinician, you will partner closely with caregivers and other professionals to promote lasting functional outcomes in communication, feeding, and oral-motor development. Treatment areas include speech sound disorders, developmental language delays, pediatric feeding disorders, dysphagia, oral sensory-motor impairments, and myofunctional development.
In this role, you will evaluate and treat children with speech sound disorders, phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language delays, childhood apraxia of speech, pediatric feeding disorders, restrictive eating, sensory-motor feeding challenges, oral preparatory and oral-phase dysphagia, neuromuscular feeding disorders, and tethered oral tissues, to help children develop effective communication and safe, efficient, and positive mealtime experiences.
For clinicians with experience or an interest in expanding their expertise, opportunities are available to provide myofunctional therapy as part of our comprehensive service model.
You will serve infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of developmental and medical diagnoses including developmental delays, Pediatric Feeding Disorders (PFD), sensory processing differences, failure to thrive, oropharyngeal dysphagia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other neurological or developmental conditions. Key Responsibilities
Specialized Clinical Services
- Provide individualized speech-language and feeding evaluations and treatment in children's natural environments, including homes, daycares, preschools, ABA clinics, and other community settings throughout the Greater Jacksonville area.
- Deliver evidence-informed interventions to improve communication, feeding, oral-motor function, and participation in daily routines.
Comprehensive Evaluations
- Conduct comprehensive assessments using standardized and clinical evaluation tools.
- Develop individualized treatment plans addressing speech sound disorders, phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, motor speech disorders, pediatric feeding disorders, oral sensory-motor impairments, food aversions, and dysphagia.
Oral-Motor & Feeding Intervention
- Implement specialized oral-motor and neuromuscular interventions targeting oral strength, coordination, jaw stability, lip closure, tongue mobility and lateralization, chewing efficiency, and coordination of the suck-swallow-breathe sequence.
- Support safe swallowing, age-appropriate feeding progression, and functional mealtime independence.
Family Education & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, teachers, physicians, occupational therapists, and other professionals to promote carryover of communication and feeding strategies across daily routines.
- Provide individualized home programs and caregiver education to maximize long-term success.
Clinical Collaboration
- Participate in paid quarterly clinical roundtable meetings focused on interdisciplinary collaboration, case consultation, current research, and best practices.
Documentation
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation, including evaluations, daily SOAP notes, progress reports, and plan-of-care updates using the practice's electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Licensure
- Active Florida Speech-Language Pathology license.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
- Pediatric speech-language pathology experience required.
- Experience treating pediatric feeding disorders and oral-motor impairments preferred.
- Formal training in pediatric feeding approaches such as Beckman Oral Motor, Feed the Peds®, SOS Approach to Feeding®, AEIOU, TalkTools®, or comparable continuing education is highly desirable.
- Experience or interest in myofunctional therapy is welcomed.
Transportation
- Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance.
- Ability to travel throughout an assigned geographic service area within Duval, St. Johns, Clay, and Nassau Counties. Caseloads are organized within designated catchment areas whenever possible to promote efficient travel.
