Hands and Hearts Home Care is seeking a dependable and experienced caregiver or CNA for a male client in the Irmo, SC 29063 area.
Primary Schedule:
Monday–Friday
7:00 AM–10:30 AM
There may also be opportunities to work occasional weekends or additional shifts with this client.
Important: The morning routine includes bowel-care services. Previous bowel-care experience is preferred but not required. Applicants who have not provided bowel care before may still apply if they are comfortable with this type of personal care and willing to complete training. The selected caregiver will receive instruction on the client’s established bowel-care routine before providing the service independently.
About the Client:
The client has a C4 spinal cord injury and limited mobility. He has some use of his legs but very limited use of his arms and hands. He has also undergone additional neck surgery and has difficulty turning his head. He needs a patient, attentive caregiver who is comfortable assisting someone with significant physical limitations while helping him remain as independent as possible.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Providing bowel care during the morning shift
- Assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
- Assisting with dressing, grooming and hygiene
- Providing mobility and positioning assistance
- Preparing light meals
- Completing light housekeeping related to the client’s care
- Following the client’s established care plan
- Observing and reporting any changes or concerns
- Providing dependable, respectful, and compassionate care
Qualifications:
- At least one year of hands-on caregiving experience
- Experience caring for someone with a spinal cord injury or limited mobility is preferred but not required
- Previous bowel-care experience is a plus; applicants willing to learn and complete training are encouraged to apply
- Must be comfortable providing hands-on personal care
- Must be dependable and punctual, as the client relies on consistent morning care
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation and current auto insurance
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
- CNA certification is a plus but is not required
