Overview
The Ventura Botanical Gardens was created by a small group of visionary Ventura residents in 2005. The botanical theme of the gardens encompasses plants originating from the five Mediterranean climate zones. The position will primarily be responsible for maintaining the database of plant collection records. The position reports directly to the executive director and is important to our mission as the botanical gardens steadily expands our collections. It is an on site position, not remote. The schedule can be part or full time, but only on weekdays. The position title may vary from assistant to associate depending on level of experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Oversee plant acquisition, de-accessioning, field mapping, and accurate taxonomy labeling using ARCGIS Pro database.
Qualifications
- Education: at least a bachelor’s degree in plant science, botany, horticulture, or a related field. Students nearing completion of their degree will be considered.
- Essential Skills: knowledge of plant taxonomy, ARCGIS mapping technology. Experience using ARCGIS Pro.
- Desirable Skills: Fluency in Spanish.
Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
