JOB GOAL: To assist in the preparation and serving of food, and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares and serves food;
- Washes and sanitizes food service utensils and equipment;
- Wash and dry dishes, pots and pans;
- Operates the cash register;
- Cleans up the kitchen, serving areas and mops floors;
- Assists with other food service activities required for the operation of the School Lunch Program;
- From time to time, performs special duties assigned by the cook;
- Some days, performs the job of someone who is absent;
- Works cooperatively with the cook and others on any job assigned following directions from the cook;
- Is friendly and cordial to students, teachers and staff at all times;
- Does related work as needed.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have some experience in food service;
- Must have the ability to read and write English;
- Must have a satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience;
- Must have elementary knowledge of the proper method of serving food and the care of tableware, glassware, silver and kitchen appliances;
- Must have practical working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and use of cleaning supplies and appliances;
- Must have the ability to follow simple oral and written directions from the School Lunch Manager and/or Cook;
- Must have physical strength and stamina;
- Must be in good physical condition.
