Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking Learning Specialists for K-12 independent schools in San Francisco for the 2026-2027 school year.

Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Work with a caseload of students in grades K-12 and provide one-on-one and small group instruction
- Provide students with individualized skills-based instruction tailored to student’s needs
- Teach one academic class based on candidates experience or expertise
- Help students to develop effective skills and strategies including, but not limited to, executive functioning, such as planning, prioritizing, and organizing materials, note-taking, and test preparation
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, administrators, and other professionals
- Monitor and track student progress
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Special Education or Literacy required
- State certification required
- Two or more years of experience working with students in middle and/or high school setting as a learning specialist, classroom teacher, or resource teacher
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Experience with Judith Hochman’s Writing Revolution preferred
In addition to teaching, full-time faculty members may serve as student advisors, club mentors, and contribute in other significant ways to the work of the community. Schools are especially interested in candidates with coaching experience and/or those who can demonstrate initiative and serve as coaches in a variety of significant ways outside of the classroom. Other supervisory responsibilities and duties are shared among faculty members.
