American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with 2+ years of acute OR experience and pediatric surgical experience for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in Tacoma, WA.

Hospital-based pediatric OR at a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a Level IV NICU
-
Patient population ranges from neonates to 18 years old, including adult-sized adolescents, developmentally delayed patients, and those with congenital anomalies
-
Case types include pediatric trauma (MVAs, GSWs, shaken baby), neurosurgery (craniotomies, EVDs, shunts), spine (scoliosis repairs, spinal injuries), urology, GYN, orthopedics, oncology, ENT, general/GI surgery, and more
-
Robotics (DaVinci XI), dental, and ophthalmology (strabismus repairs) experience are highly preferred

EMR: Epic
-
12-hour night shifts (1845–0715), 36 hours per week

Weekend assignments are uncommon but possible if regular weekend staff are unavailable
-
On-call required approximately 2 weeknights (1900–0700) and 1 weekend (Friday 1900–Monday 0700) every 6 weeks, with a 30-minute response time

Floating may be required to the PICU or to the connected Tacoma General campus for NICU cases

Minimum 2 years of acute OR experience required; candidates with exactly 2 years must demonstrate high-level experience

Pediatric OR experience required; combined adult and pediatric experience will be considered

CST (NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist) credential required

BLS certification required

Washington State license required if applicable

Proficiency scrubbing the full range of case types performed in the unit

Robotics, high-level neuro, ophthalmology, and dental scrubbing skills highly preferred
-
First-time travelers not accepted unless candidate has 5+ years of extensive OR and pediatric experience

Scrubs are provided by the facility

A minimum of one reference from a supervisor or above (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, etc.) is required for consideration; a second reference will be needed prior to start

License verification via NURSYS is required; candidates with a pending WA license may be considered with proof of application and application date
