Job Overview:
Yellow Breeches is a licensed K-12 special education academic school. We provide experiential and adventure education in a small classroom setting. Our class sizes of 6 students allows teachers the ability to meet each students' individual needs through hands-on instruction.We are seeking a passionate and energetic Art teacher to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will inspire students through creative art instruction, develop engaging curricula, and manage dynamic classroom environments. Your enthusiasm for arts education will help cultivate each student's unique talents while supporting their overall development in a supportive setting.
Duties:
- Design and implement comprehensive art curricula that align with students' individual needs and development levels
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages creativity, self-expression, and confidence
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment
- Incorporate diverse artistic mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography
- Adapt teaching strategies for students with special education requirements and early childhood education needs
- Work collaboratively with all teachers to develop cross-curricular activities and lessons
- Support students' social-emotional growth through mentorship and encouragement during artistic activities
- Plan and lead weekly experiential activities (local field trips, museums, opportunities to explore careers, college tours, and transition related activities)
- Assist Adventure teachers in planning weekly adventure trips (mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, and other experiential/adventure based activities)
- Assist in planning and attend a week long adventure and experiential camping trip twice a year
