Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Cath Lab to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position offers a 36-hour weekly schedule during daytime hours, providing an excellent opportunity to deliver specialized cardiac care in a fast-paced, supportive environment. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive clinical expertise, including proficiency in cardiac catheterization procedures, invasive monitoring, and advanced patient assessment. Responsibilities
- Perform pre-procedure assessments and prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and related interventions
- Assist physicians during complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and stent placements
- Monitor patients continuously using telemetry and invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment
- Administer medications safely, including IV infusions and sedation, following aseptic techniques
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide post-procedure care, including vital sign assessment, wound care, and patient education
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans for patients with cardiac conditions
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to infection control protocols throughout all procedures
- Support emergency response efforts in case of adverse events or trauma situations within the cath lab setting
- Stay current with advancements in cardiology nursing practices and participate in ongoing professional development
Skills
- Extensive experience working with Cardiac Catheterization procedures and telemetry monitoring
- Proficiency in EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, anatomy, and related pharmacology
- Skilled in IV infusion administration, suturing, and aseptic technique
- Experience with critical care environments including ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable
- Ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond swiftly to emergent situations
- Knowledge of ICD coding and medical terminology relevant to cardiology nursing
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams and patient families
- Familiarity with infection control practices and HIPAA compliance standards
