Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of Foodies Corner. This role serves as the leader on duty in the absence of the Store Manager and plays a key role in maintaining store standards, developing team members, and kitchenvering an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in overseeing all store operations and department activities
- Supervise and support team members and kitchen staff during assigned shifts
- Open and close the store according to established procedures
- Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying order accuracy
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and transactions in a professional manner
- Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels; assist with ordering and receiving
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are upheld throughout the store and kitchen
- Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and shift coverage coordination
- Train new team members on store policies, procedures, and customer service standards
- Assist with completing daily paperwork, cash reconciliation, and sales reporting
- Perform regular inspections of the store, kitchen, and grounds to ensure cleanliness
- Support the Store Manager in discussing staff performance, store maintenance and general feedback
- Step in across departments as needed to maintain smooth store operations
- Enforce loss prevention policies and report any discrepancies to management
- Ensure lottery, tobacco, and alcohol compliance regulations are followed
Requirements
- 1+ year of supervisory or retail experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team
- Ability to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
