This role can also be fast-tracked and has the potential to dive in deeper to beverage studies, execution and growth. Hiring Requirements:-
Minimum of 2 years of hospitality experience, with a preference of at least 1 year in beverage or wine service.

Level 1 Sommelier certification, WSET equivalent, or comparable wine education required

Current TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol certification, or willingness to complete before independently working service.

Associate degree in Beverage Management, Hospitality, Food Service, or a related field preferred, but not required, with equivalent experience.

Strong service presence, professional communication, and comfort educating both guests and teammates.
Key Responsibilities Include, but are Not Limited to:

Thoughtfully plan and educate on the wine program per Hospitality & Wine Leader’s discretion and lesson outlook

Advise and establish continuous growth and editing to our wine list and coordinate prints, Upserve POS stocks and any BTG selections on the snack menu

Actively seek opportunities to connect with guests during service periods by being present in the MDR on the floor, acting as a SOMM on busiest evenings out of the week

Assist in coordinating beverage series events and lead lesson plans for the restaurant when appropriate

Help design and organize education programs and initiatives that assist the leadership teams in educating the team (i.e. lineup tastings, regular testing, purveyor visits, educational trips, etc.)

Work with the Hospitality & Wine Leader to maintain the profitability of the wine department, maintain weekly and monthly budgetary goals

Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with vendors and sales representatives, displaying decorum and respect in accordance with Gracie’s mission and values

Continuously taste, research, and remain active & relevant in the industry

Conduct monthly beverage inventory and organization of storage in a timely manner, following direction of Hospitality & Wine Leader
- Please keep in mind that these above responsibilities would be achieved AFTER basic front server training milestones are met, as a preliminary, internal requirement.

Sommeliers at Gracie's are required to maintain a detailed working knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and allergen information. Somms, in particular, are also required to maintain a high level of knowledge of wines, including our by-the-glass selections, as well as pairing wines and bottles. Somms should also have a solid understanding of what we offer on our bar menu.
Compensation:
This position is an hourly position, plus additional gratuity. Rate is based on experience, starting from $4/hr.+ Gratuity after basic training is completed at minimum wage. Our gratuity points system will be discussed during the interview process.
