The Building Services Section in King County's
Facilities Management Division (FMD), is seeking to fill an immediate
Utility Worker I vacancy and establish an eligibility list for future opportunities. The
Utility Worker team is responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and equipment operation duties not associated with journey-level work in any skilled trade. This role involves working with a variety of people in a variety of locations; no two days are the same!
Our ideal applicant is someone that has some experience in light maintenance, landscaping, grounds cleaning, operating hand tools and wants to grow in our organization. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill immediate full-time, Career Service position and to create a list of competitive candidates to fill future vacant positions as they become available throughout the year, including Term-Limited Temporary; however, the list may be expired at any time.-
Career Service (CS) positions are full-time, comprehensive benefits eligible, including retirement, and are considered permanent after successful completion of a 6-month probation period.

Term-limited Temporary (TLT) positions are "at will" but are full-time and eligible for comprehensive benefits. TLT positions may be eligible for retirement benefits.
Who are we:
We are a workforce of over 300 dedicated employees. FMD operates and manages the County's capital assets by developing and maintaining cost-conscious, sustainable, high-quality facilities. The Building Operations Section of FMD maintains approximately 3 million square feet in facilities where King County provides regional services, including the King County Courthouse and District Courts, Maleng Regional Justice Center, King County Administration Building, King County Animal Shelter, and several Public Health facilities. Our facilities range in age from 8 to 100 years old, with equipment such as boilers, chillers, DDC controls, ventilation fans, pumps and compressors, and fire/life/safety systems.
