Summary:
The employee in this class participates in the maintenance and operation of the Burnett County Government Center facilities and grounds. The work performed is of a recurring nature, however, specific instructions are given on each new or unusual assignment. The Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor performs periodic inspections of the work. The employee performs a variety of building cleaning and grounds maintenance tasks and completes related work as required.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Scrubs, strips, waxes, buffs and maintains floors
- Dusts, cleans and polishes wood and metal surfaces
- Cleans, sanitizes and supplies restrooms
- Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains
- Washes windows and other glass surfaces on inside and outside
- Cleans lights and light fixtures and replaces bulbs
- Empties and sanitizes office trash containers
- Cleans roof and rain gutters of leaves and twigs
- Mows, waters and fertilizes lawn, Trims trees and shrubs, Shovels snow from walkways, Cleans and maintains tools and equipment used
- Turns off lights, locks doors and checks building security
- Arranges rooms for meetings or other special events
- Cleans spills and spots on floors, table or countertop surfaces, and walls
- Frequently moves equipment, furniture, files, etc.
- Assists the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Building Engineer/Custodian in projects and repairs as needed or directed
- Repairs minor plumbing, mechanical, and electrical breakdowns
- Does related work as required
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

- Working knowledge of common hand and power tools Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Ability to plan and organize work, and initiate activities work independently Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions Knowledgeable in laws and regulations that govern this type of work
Miscellaneous Information
Normal working hours for this position is: Morning Shift from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday with availability for alternating weekend ‘on-call’ duty. (Typically, every fourth weekend)
