The Fordy Group is partnering with a leading heavy civil and asphalt contractor in the Charlotte, NC area to find an experienced Project Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-profile highway, roadway, and asphalt projects from preconstruction through completion in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Role Overview:
The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of heavy civil and asphalt construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and operational expertise, along with the ability to coordinate teams, subcontractors, and clients across multiple active projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage heavy civil, highway, roadway, and asphalt construction projects from start to finish
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Coordinate field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure project compliance
- Lead project meetings and maintain communication with clients, engineers, and internal teams
- Identify and resolve project risks, delays, and constructability challenges
- Oversee change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, company policies, and quality expectations
Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience managing heavy civil and asphalt construction projects
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans and specifications
- Experience with project scheduling and cost management software preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; HCSS, Bluebeam Revu, and/or Primavera P6 experience is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
