Morse Correctional Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Records Clerk / Patient Care Technician to join our healthcare team at the Okaloosa County Jail.
This unique dual-role position combines direct patient care support with medical records management. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing quality healthcare services in a correctional setting.
Patient Care Duties

Obtain and document vital signs

Assist nursing staff with patient care activities

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

Observe and report changes in patient condition

Assist with activities of daily living as directed

Maintain clean, safe, and organized treatment areas
-
Stock medical supplies and equipment
-
Support infection control and patient safety initiatives
Medical Records Duties

Maintain and organize patient medical records
-
Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date
-
Scan, file, and manage electronic health records
-
Process medical record requests and documentation needs
-
Assist healthcare providers with record retrieval and chart management
-
Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
-
Participate in audits and quality improvement activities
-
Provide administrative support to the healthcare team

High school diploma or GED required
-
CNA, PCT, EMT, Medical Assistant, or related healthcare experience preferred

Previous medical records or healthcare administrative experience preferred

Knowledge of electronic health record systems

Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
