Shop Technician – Power Generation Equipment
Location: Odessa, TX 79761
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $22.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday (No On-Call)
POSITION OVERVIEW
NGPS is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shop Technician to support our generator fleet from our Odessa facility. This position is shop-based only and focused on maintenance, repair, preparation, and quality control of power generation equipment prior to field deployment.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical or electrical experience, takes pride in organized and efficient work, and understands the importance of accuracy, safety, and documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SHOP OPERATIONS
- Perform planned maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on generators and related power equipment in the shop
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on power generation equipment
- Prepare, test, and inspect generators prior to deployment
- Ensure equipment meets NGPS quality and reliability standards before release
DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
- Accurately document all maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and inspections performed
- Maintain clear and complete service records to support operations, compliance, and billing
- Communicate equipment condition, deficiencies, and follow-up needs to supervisors
INVENTORY & ORGANIZATION
- Assist with maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment
- Properly use, care for, and return tools and equipment
- Identify parts or materials needed for repairs and communicate requirements to supervisors
SAFETY & QUALITY
- Perform all work in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations
- Maintain a strong safety mindset while working around heavy equipment and machinery
- Follow lockout/tagout and other shop safety procedures as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Mechanical or electrical experience – Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
- Generator, diesel engine, power generation, or oilfield equipment experience preferred
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
WORK LOCATION
- In-person, shop-based role in Odessa, TX 79761
- Must be able to commute to or relocate to Odessa prior to start date
