Data and Policy Analyst (Part-Time) Educational Justice | Louisville, KY | $30/hr
About Educational Justice
Educational Justice is a Louisville-based nonprofit on a mission to end educational inequity. We pair 5th–8th grade students with high-achieving high school mentors for long-term, one-on-one tutoring — building academic confidence and social development in underserved communities. We serve the Louisville metro area and select locations in Kentucky and Southern Indiana, with a vision to grow nationally.
The Role
We're looking for a curious, detail-oriented Data and Policy Analyst to help us make smarter, evidence-informed decisions. This is a meaningful part-time opportunity for someone who loves turning data into stories that drive real change.
You'll collect, analyze, and communicate data about our programs, participants, and outcomes — then translate those findings into clear recommendations that strengthen how we operate. About 70% of your hours per week will be independent analysis work; the remaining 30% will involve direct staff engagement, like presenting findings and facilitating learning sessions.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage data collection tools (surveys, assessments, observation forms, trackers)
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to assess program quality, satisfaction, and outcomes
- Conduct interviews and activity observations with Scholars, Mentors, families, and staff
- Translate findings into practical policy and program improvement recommendations
- Prepare dashboards, visualizations, and written reports for internal and external audiences
- Integrate dashboards, visualizations and other data on EJ platform and website for public accessible
- Submit bi-weekly outcome reports to leadership summarizing trends and recommended actions
- Facilitate quarterly lessons-learned sessions across departments
- Support grant and board reporting with evidence of program impact
What We're Looking For
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing one) in public policy, data science, statistics, education, social sciences, nonprofit management, or a related field — or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation methods, survey design, and data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (especially Excel/Sheets and presentation tools)
- Experience with survey platforms (Smart Sheets, Google Forms, Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
- Proficiency in utilizing AI tools for data analysis
- Ability to work minimum 15 hours/week with seasonal flexibility
You'll Stand Out If You Have:
- Experience in education, youth development, tutoring, mentorship, or the nonprofit sector
- Skills in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker Studio
- Experience with SQL, Python, or R
- Experience Integrating dashboard onto websites or other hosted platforms
Preferred Attributes:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication — especially explaining data to non-technical audiences
- Self-directed and proactive, with a collaborative spirit
- Passion for educational equity and closing opportunity gaps
