The Inpatient Hematology APP will provide advanced clinical care for hospitalized patients with hematologic disorders in collaboration with attending hematologists, hematology-oncology fellows, and the multidisciplinary inpatient care team. Core responsibilities include managing admissions, performing daily clinical assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating inpatient care, and discharge planning.
The APP will work closely with nursing staff, outpatient hematology APPs, care navigators, and ancillary services to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care throughout hospitalization, including coordination of complex discharges. The role includes participation in daily inpatient rounds, weekly intake meetings, and monthly hematology tumor boards. As appropriate to training, credentialing, and institutional scope of practice, the APP may also have the opportunity to perform hematology-related procedures, including bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures with intrathecal treatment administration.
