Job Description
Seeking an experienced and detail-oriented full-time Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing team in Utah County. The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing insurance claims, payment posting, billing follow-up, and revenue cycle operations to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. This is an exciting opportunity to help build efficient revenue cycle processes in modern, patient-centered orthopedic practice. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in medical billing, insurance claims, and patient account management.
Responsibilities
- Submit and manage insurance claims electronically and manually
- Review and correct claim denials and rejections
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Post insurance and patient payments accurately
- Follow up on unpaid or outstanding claims
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and appeals
- Assist patients with billing questions and payment arrangements
- Maintain accurate patient billing records in EMR/practice management systems
- Monitor accounts receivable and aging reports
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations
- Collaborate with providers and staff to improve documentation and coding accuracy
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of medical billing experience preferred
- Orthopedic billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and insurance claim processes
- Experience with EMR and practice management software
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Preferred Experience
- Orthopedic, surgical, or specialty clinic billing
- Prior experience with prior authorizations and appeals
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance carriers
