Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression of the practice
- Schedule appointments efficiently, managing calendars for multiple providers
- Verify patient insurance coverage and explain billing procedures clearly
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy, ensuring all patient data is current and confidential
- Handle incoming phone calls professionally, addressing inquiries promptly and directing calls appropriately
- Assist with insurance third-party billing processes and revenue cycle management tasks
- Perform data entry tasks swiftly and accurately, maintaining organized records of patient interactions and administrative activities
- Facilitate internal communication among staff members to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Support patients with health insurance questions, appointment rescheduling, and general customer service needs
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; Associate’s degree or administrative certification preferred.
- Experience: 1–2+ years of front desk, patient access, or administrative experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare environment.
Technical & Administrative Skills
- EHR/EMR Proficiency: Experience using Electronic Health Record systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, or eClinicalWorks) for scheduling and documentation.
- Insurance & Billing: Knowledge of health insurance verification, co-pay collections, managed care policies, and general revenue cycle management.
- Office Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard multi-line phone / PBX switchboard systems.
- Compliance Knowledge: Basic understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy laws.
Language & Communication Skills
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish (preferred/required), with the ability to clearly translate medical forms, intake procedures, and billing queries for native Spanish speakers.
- Customer Service & Interpersonal: Strong phone etiquette, active listening skills, and a warm, empathetic approach to patient care and distress management.
- Detail-Oriented: High level of accuracy in data entry, scheduling, patient file organization, and follow-through.
Pay: Up to $15.00 per hour
