Special Education (SPED) TeacherJob Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and student-centered Special Education (SPED) Teacher to join our educational team. In this role, you will design, implement, and adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students with mild, moderate, or severe disabilities. Your primary focus will be creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment where every student can achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
- IEP Development & Management: Act as the primary case manager for assigned students. Write, review, and implement comprehensive IEPs, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations (IDEA).
- Differentiated Instruction: Design and deliver modified lesson plans in core subjects tailored to individual student learning styles, accommodations, and modifications.
- Data Collection & Assessment: Regularly assess student progress using qualitative and quantitative metrics; maintain meticulous records to track goals and guide instructional adjustments.
- Behavioral Support: Develop and implement Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) using positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS).
- Collaboration & Advocacy: Partner closely with general education teachers, therapists (SLP, OT, PT), school psychologists, and administrators to ensure seamless inclusion and accommodation implementation.
- Parent Communication: Maintain open, regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student updates, successes, challenges, and upcoming IEP meetings.
- Classroom Management: Oversee and direct the daily tasks of paraprofessionals/teacher aides assigned to your classroom.
Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid State Teaching Certification / License in Special Education (e.g., General Curriculum, Adapted Curriculum, or specific age/grade spans as required by your state).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of special education law, the IEP process, and compliance mandates under IDEA.
- Skills: Exceptional classroom management, patience, empathy, and excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Pay: $52,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
