Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status.
- Perform animal restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic technique during procedures such as animal catheterization, wound management, and sample collection to prevent infection.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning, polishing, and radiography.
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to veterinary terminology standards.
- Assist with animal intake and discharge processes while ensuring proper pet care instructions are communicated effectively.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary critical care practices.
- Skilled in dog handling techniques and dog training principles to facilitate safe interactions.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic workflows.
- Proficiency in performing animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and aseptic procedures to maintain high standards of safety and hygiene.
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals under anesthesia
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment accurately while maintaining strict safety standards for staff and animals alike.
- Ability to keep a fast pace in a busy hospital setting
- Strong background in animal care practices, including a minimum of 2+ years in veterinary medicine
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
