Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Fiber Characterization Lead Technician to lead field testing, manage crews, and serve as the primary point of contact for customers. This role owns the full testing lifecycle, from execution to reporting, while ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all fiber testing activities, including OTDR, OLTS, and CD/PMD (required).
- Manage field teams and assign work to technicians, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Oversee test equipment, including calibration and proper usage.
- Coordinate testing within customer maintenance windows.
- Validate test results and ensure accuracy before site completion.
- Provide regular project updates and communicate directly with customers.
- Complete and review all reports, QA checks, and final documentation.
- Participate in project planning and progress meetings.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of telecom experience with fiber characterization expertise.
- Proven experience as a lead or senior fiber technician (A/B -side proficiency required).
- Strong knowledge of fiber testing tools and reporting systems.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
- Solid communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and relevant testing software.
