We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our organization adheres to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role is crucial in maintaining state environmental compliance. The Compliance Officer will play a key role in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs.
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Lab Compliance Manager, the Laboratory & Compliance Specialist, will be responsible for managing the customer’s environmental compliance, ensuring that the customer’s water usage, discharge, and related activities comply with environmental regulations, local laws, and industry standards. This role involves monitoring water quality, reviewing permits, conducting inspections, and working closely with government agencies to ensure water-related activities meet all regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure that the customer’s water usage, wastewater discharge, and related activities comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act).
- Review and monitor compliance with water permits, including wastewater discharge permits, water withdrawal permits, and stormwater permits.
- Stay updated on changes to water-related regulations and help the organization adapt to any new requirements.
- Oversee regular water quality testing and ensure that sampling protocols are followed for both water intake and discharge points.
- Review water quality data and interpret findings to ensure compliance with water quality standards.
- Prepare reports on water quality status, potential risks, and compliance status for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct audits to ensure that water testing and reporting are accurate and up-to-date.
- Maintain detailed records of water quality testing, compliance inspections, permits, and any corrective actions taken.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports on water quality, compliance, and any violations or incidents.
- Ensure that all documentation complies with record-keeping standards and is available for review by regulatory agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER:
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local water regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, local environmental codes).
- Ability to analyze water quality data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for compliance.
- Strong ability to identify issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, senior management, and internal teams.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure that water testing and compliance data is correctly documented.
- Experience in managing compliance projects and ensuring timely resolution of water-related issues.
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater management, or stormwater systems is helpful.
- Proficiency with water testing equipment, compliance management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
- Possession of a valid State driver's license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid C.P.R. Certificate.
- Certifications related to water quality or environmental compliance may be advantageous.
