About Catalyst Training Gyms
Catalyst Training Gyms has been Southbury’s preferred coaching-focused training gym since 2010 — a 20,000 square foot facility, specializing in fitness for adults over 40. We deliver structured, intelligent, and sustainable strength training designed to help our members stay strong, capable, and confident for life.
We are a coaching-first organization — no sales quotas, no random workouts. Every session is intentional, coached, and held to a high standard. Fifteen years of refining the same system means you’re stepping into an operation that works.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Coach who delivers our training experience on the floor: Private Training, Small Group Training (1–4), and Large Group sessions for adults over 40.
We run a team-based coaching model. Members are promised time slots, not specific coaches. Programs are designed centrally by veteran coaches and shared through our systems, so any coach can pick up any client’s session — and the client never has to repeat themselves.
This is not a “build your own book” platform and not a program-design role. You coach. The system handles the rest — and that’s exactly why the job is sustainable.
What the Team Model Means for You
- You execute programs — you don’t design every session from scratch
- Realistic hours and a sustainable coaching career
- No sales quotas and no pressure to recruit or retain a personal client list
- Shared client documentation, so you always walk in informed
- Different clients, formats, and themes — the work stays fresh
- A veteran coaching team to learn from — you will never be the only coach on the floor figuring it out alone
Key ResponsibilitiesSession Delivery
- Deliver high-quality Private, Small Group, and Support Sessions for adults 40+
- Coach actively — cue, correct, and engage every client, every session
- Bring professional energy, use names, and celebrate real wins
- Training Space: Keep it clean, stocked, and set up before every session
- Service first mentality — you're there to make the clients hour the best part of their day
Programming Execution
- Follow centrally designed programs as written
- Modify intelligently for safety, pain, readiness, or confidence — and document it
- Escalate program-fit issues instead of freelancing
Documentation & Communication
- Dictate After Action Reports after required sessions (we use technology to make paperwork manageable and realistic)
- Keep client records current so hand-offs between coaches are invisible
- Communicate clearly with the Coaching Manager and team
What This Role Is Not
- Not a sales position — no quotas, no pressure
- Not a program-design role — programming is centralized
- Not a platform for building a personal client book
- Not a personality-driven “star trainer” role
This role exists to coach, execute the standard, and protect the client experience.
QualificationsRequired
- Certified Personal Trainer (NASM, NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or equivalent)
- CPR/AED certified (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- At least 1 year of in-person coaching experience (personal training, small group, or team training)
- Full-time availability including early mornings and/or evenings
- Professional maturity and reliability
Preferred
- Experience coaching adults over 40
- Experience in semi-private or small group training models
- Comfort working within structured systems and SOPs
What We Offer
- Full-time or Part-time hourly position with a consistent schedule
- A professional, standards-driven environment with 15+ years of proven systems
- Programming, systems, and client documentation provided — you focus on coaching
- Clear expectations and real feedback from Day 1
- An established training member community — you stay busy from week one
- Opportunity for growth as our organization expands to additional locations
Who This Role Is For
This role is ideal for a coach who:
- Loves coaching people, not just programming workouts
- Wants to serve a population where the work actually changes lives
- Values structure over chaos
- Takes feedback well and applies it fast
- Wants a sustainable career, not a grind
- Is Team Oriented and Service Focused
If you want to coach at a high standard — without sales quotas, program-design burnout, or building a book from zero — we want to hear from you.
