Title: Principal solution architect / principal data architect / solution architect for data and analytics

Location: Remote (US/Canada)
Note consultants should be able to travel with in US to Greenville site once every month.
Principal Architect: broad, senior AWS data architect who can lead design and defend choices, must know both data engineering and ML engineering
Must-have: Strong AWS data architecture experience, ability to act as a tech lead, solid understanding of data mesh, Glue, streaming and batch architecture, Kinesis or related stream-processing concepts, and data lake / warehouse patterns. The person should be able to assess the current environment, design a customized target architecture, and answer detailed customer questions with some implementation depth.
Nice-to-have: SageMaker familiarity in the broader AWS data ecosystem, exposure to QuickSight, broader AWS data services knowledge, and experience with manufacturing or industrial data scenarios.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Principal Solutions Architect with deep data platform and data mesh expertise to lead the IT systems assessment, industrial data platform design, and data mesh architecture. This role involves designing the cloud-based data platform, federated governance model, and analytics layer while collaborating with us to deliver a scalable industrial data architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Lead IT systems assessment including data integration patterns, APIs, and existing analytics infrastructure
Design the Industrial Data Platform architecture (data lake, warehouse, time-series databases)
Architect the Industrial Data Mesh with domain-driven ownership and federated governance
Define data products per domain including contracts, schemas, SLAs, and ownership
Design data catalog, lineage, and discoverability architecture
Develop cloud account strategy and multi-account approach for DR and HA
Customer Engagement
Lead data domain workshops to validate domain boundaries and ownership models
Present data platform architecture to customer technical and business teams
Collaborate with our IT teams to assess current data governance practices
Facilitate executive alignment workshops on data strategy
Solution Development
Design real-time and batch data processing pipelines
Implement master data management and data governance frameworks
Define self-serve data infrastructure enabling domain teams to publish and consume data products
Document data architecture decisions and implementation plans
Qualifications
Experience
10+ years in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics platforms
Experience designing data mesh or federated data architectures
Track record delivering enterprise data platforms in manufacturing or industrial contexts
Technical Skills (AWS Services, would consider competitive alternatives)
