Duties
- Assist in meal preparation by following recipes accurately and adhering to portion control guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including slicing tools, ovens, mixers, and other culinary appliances
- Prepare food items such as salads, sandwiches, hot meals, and snacks while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area by cleaning utensils, surfaces, equipment, and ensuring compliance with sanitation standards
- Support menu planning efforts by suggesting creative ideas and ensuring variety in meal options
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate food production schedules and ensure timely service
- Handle food safely during preparation, storage, and serving processes in accordance with food safety management protocols
- Assist with catering events or special meal requests as needed, ensuring quality presentation and service excellence
- Follow safety standards in production environments to prevent accidents or contamination during food handling and cooking processes
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and operating commercial kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of food safety standards, proper food handling procedures, and sanitation practices
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal assembly in a food industry setting
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members
- Ability to perform knife skills proficiently including slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Familiarity with catering services or restaurant environments is a plus
- Demonstrated commitment to safety standards in food production and serving environments
- Previous experience in food service roles such as catering or restaurant work is advantageous
