Department Summary
Ohio University, Department of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences, seeks applications and nominations for Speech-Language Pathology Supervisor depending on qualifications. It is a 12-month half-time term appointment starting approximately August 10, 2026. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded clinical background with experience and/or interest in interprofessional collaborations in one or more of the following areas: childhood language impairment/childhood learning disability (knowledge of public schools), autism, voice, swallowing, cognitive-linguistic impairment, augmentative and alternative communication, fluency, and literacy. We seek a candidate with a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

The Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders has a distinguished history beginning in 1937. We began by offering the baccalaureate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 1937 and the MA-SLP in 1950. We have had an audiology program since 1973 and an AuD program since 2003. The PhD program was established in 1957.
Position Profile
Diagnoses and treats speech and language problems. Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with speech language problems of organic and nonorganic etiology.
Level Summary
Regularly serves as a technical leader, expert, or program manager for complex functions or initiatives that require deep subject-matter knowledge. Significantly impacts the department by directly contributing to its performance and success.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides leadership to projects or initiatives. May have a limited number of direct reports.

Physical Requirements
The position requires prolonged standing, frequent bending, stooping, and travel. Candidates must possess strong communication, auditory, and visual skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to write legibly. Physical requirements include the ability to perform essential job functions in a clinical and educational environment, including prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and computer use; effective communication with students, patients, and staff; observation and supervision of clinical activities; and occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.The role may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and 5 or more years of related professional experience. License or license eligible to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Ohio.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in clinical supervision of graduate students.

Teaching experience in one or more of the desired areas listed above (e.g., based on graduate lecture experience or other experience).
