Ace Handyman Services, the home services division of Ace Hardware, is looking for a skilled, independent Multi-skilled Carpenter to join our team on a part-time basis. In this W2 position, you will work directly out of your home, traveling to pre-scheduled jobs throughout Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. We handle the marketing, booking, and scheduling so you can focus entirely on your craft and helping customers maintain, repair, and improve their homes.
This role is ideal for an experienced tradesperson who wants the flexibility and autonomy of independent work without the administrative hassle of running a business. You get the stability of consistent, year-round work and the backing of a trusted national brand, all while managing your own schedule.
On a day-to-day basis, you will arrive at scheduled residential or commercial job sites in your own reliable truck or van. You will assess the customer’s needs, discuss the scope of work, and complete projects ranging from carpentry and drywall repair to light plumbing and electrical work. You will also handle basic invoicing and job documentation on-site using our mobile platform.
Over time, success in this role means delivering high-quality craftsmanship that earns 5-star customer reviews, building strong rapport with clients, and completing jobs efficiently and safely. You will become a trusted face of the Ace brand in the Fairfax County and D.C. community, enjoying consistent work and regular opportunities for pay increases.

- Starting Pay: $25.00 to $27.00 per hour
- Trip Fees: $15.00 paid per job (not per day)
- Customer Review Bonuses: $25.00 bonus for every 5-star review (potential to earn an extra $75.00 to $100.00 per day)
- Allowances: Vehicle and tool allowance, plus partial cell phone reimbursement

- Proven professional experience in carpentry and general home repairs
- Solid multi-trade skills, including drywalling, tiling, painting, stair/handrail repair, and light plumbing and electrical work
- A reliable, clean, and organized truck or van capable of carrying your tools and displaying magnetic company signs
- Your own standard set of hand and power tools, including a ladder and power washer
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with a professional, customer-focused demeanor
- A valid driver's license and active auto insurance
- Residence within 25 miles of Fairfax County, VA
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Prior experience estimating job times and material costs
- Experience using mobile apps for job dispatching and customer invoicing
