OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
The Development Associate is responsible for processing donations, maintaining donor records and responding to donor and parish inquiries. The individual will also prepare donor lists from Raiser’s Edge database and will assist with fundraising events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Processing donations received by the Diocese that include cash, checks, credit cards, stock gifts, matching gifts, soft credits (direct gifts to other agencies), and parish In-Pew gifts.
· Donor database maintenance includes adding and updating donor contact information, billing unpaid pledges, acknowledging gifts and sending invitations to events. Information to be updated includes donor names, proper salutations, addresses, telephone and email, parish affiliation, newspaper subscription and miscellaneous notes and actions that are critical to providing excellent customer service as well as adjusting entries to donor gift records.
· Customer service responsibilities include responding to donor and parish inquiries communicated through telephone, email, letters, returned solicitations and billing reminders.
· The position will provide event support as needed and may need to attend approximately four events on nights and/or weekends, including but not limited to handling RSVPs, event set-up, attend and welcome guests and provide administrative assistance for the event.
· Performing other duties, as assigned
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· Minimum of three years of relevant office experience, with experience in Development preferred.
· Proficiency in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Raisers Edge or other compatible software used in fundraising to create queries and export data for reports.
· It is essential that the individual be courteous, articulate, and reliable, have a strong attention to detail and be able to multi-task in a busy, professional environment.
· Ability to efficiently organize work, work under pressure and to effectively manage multiple priorities.
· Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills.
· Excellent communications skills by phone and in person and the ability to maintain a high level of discretion and handle details of confidential nature.
· Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with a variety of people.
· Candidate must be willing to coordinate with co-workers on the work schedule to ensure adequate coverage for the Development department during normal work hours Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30.
· Ability to attend weekend/evening events as required
· Active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Catholic Church preferred.
Pay: $1.00 - $2.00 per year
