We are seeking a skilled and passionate Wok Chef to join our culinary team. This is a fast-paced, high-energy role that requires precision, speed, and an expert touch with high-heat wok cooking.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of stir-fry, noodle, rice, and specialty wok dishes with speed, consistency, and quality.
- Operate woks with proper heat control to achieve desired texture, flavor, and presentation.
- Maintain mise en place with all necessary ingredients prepped, portioned, and ready for service.
- Follow recipes while also accommodating guest modifications and dietary needs when required.
- Ensure ingredient freshness through proper storage, rotation, and labeling (FIFO method).
- Collaborate with other kitchen stations to ensure smooth and timely order flow.
- Maintain wok station cleanliness, seasoning, and readiness during and after each shift.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff in wok techniques and kitchen procedures.
- Help control food waste and manage portions for cost efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Wok Chef, Stir-Fry Cook, or similar role in a high-volume Asian kitchen.
- Strong understanding of Asian cooking techniques, flavors, and ingredients.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure without sacrificing quality.
- Excellent knife skills and safe food-handling practices.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and work in a hot environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
