Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols and maintain accurate medication records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to ensure residents’ health status is consistently tracked
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease by implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition while maintaining a clean dining environment
- Engage residents through social activities, recreational programs, and meaningful interactions to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control procedures, cleaning protocols, and safety regulations within personal care homes or retirement communities
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory care techniques
- Experience with medication administration and vital signs monitoring in long-term or home & community care settings
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation and reporting purposes
- Proven ability to handle emergency situations with first aid skills and calm decision-making
- Background in caregiving roles involving behavioral management or working with individuals with disabilities is advantageous
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents when required for appointments or outings
