About the Role
We are seeking a Category Management Analyst – Research Procurement to support the development and execution of category strategies across Research & Product Development Procurement. This role will partner closely with Category Managers to analyze spend, generate market intelligence, support sourcing initiatives, and operationalize procurement strategies.
The ideal candidate is a data-driven, execution-focused procurement professional who can turn complex spend, supplier, and market data into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze spend, supplier, contract, and market data across multiple categories.
- Develop category profiles, including supply market insights, supplier segmentation, and demand patterns.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, standardization, and supplier consolidation.
- Support RFPs, RFIs, negotiations, and other sourcing initiatives.
- Develop sourcing recommendations, business cases, and presentation materials.
- Track sourcing pipelines, savings, value delivery, and project timelines.
- Support supplier segmentation, performance tracking, and rationalization activities.
- Maintain accurate supplier, contract, and performance data.
- Partner with Category Managers, scientists, lab operations, finance, and other stakeholders.
- Support procurement process improvements, catalog enablement, SOP development, and standardization.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and value beyond cost savings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, procurement analytics, or related consulting.
- Strong analytical and data management skills.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar analytics tools preferred.
- Experience working with large datasets and translating data into actionable insights.
- Experience supporting sourcing initiatives such as RFPs/RFIs and supplier analysis.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or research environments.
- Experience with CRO/research services sourcing.
- Experience with chemicals, reagents, lab supplies, or lab equipment.
- Knowledge of supplier management and supplier segmentation.
- Experience supporting category strategies or strategic sourcing programs.
- Understanding of value beyond savings, including quality, service, innovation, and supply continuity.
