Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising the meat department team, providing training, guidance, and motivation to ensure excellent customer service and operational excellence
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and coordinating purchasing to minimize waste and maximize sales
- Oversee product merchandising, pricing strategies, and store presentation to attract customers and promote sales growth
- Support shift management duties including scheduling staff, overseeing cash handling procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Collaborate with suppliers during purchasing negotiations to secure quality products at competitive prices
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records related to sales, expenses, and payroll functions for the department
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed diligently to uphold food safety standards and store policies
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail management or supervisory roles within the grocery or retail industry, preferably with a focus on meat or perishable goods
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively and foster a positive work environment
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management systems, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and basic bookkeeping practices
- Knowledge of retail math including pricing strategies, sales analysis, and budgeting principles
- Experience with cashiering, cash handling procedures, and operational management within a retail setting
- Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately and efficiently under pressure
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Customer service orientation with a friendly attitude and phone etiquette skills
- Previous assistant manager experience or supervisory experience in retail store product knowledge is highly desirable
