Job Description
The WellAware Field Service Technician is the frontline, hands-on expert for WellAware products. This role operates within the WellAware Operations team and delivers world-class field support to our customers. Responsibilities span installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of WellAware products, as well as hands-on collaboration with internal teams to deploy and validate new technologies in real-world environments.
This position also plays a critical role in supporting sales and business development efforts by providing technical expertise, demonstrations, and field insight. The Field Technician will help train and certify contract technicians, strengthening WellAware’s Automation Partner network. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusted relationships with WellAware customers in the field through education, engagement, and exceptional service.
- Install WellAware hardware at customer locations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and upgrades on WellAware hardware products and supporting equipment, including chemical injection pumps and auxiliary components.
- Train, certify, and support contract technicians, maintaining the quality and scalability of WellAware’s Automation Partner network.
- Provide technical expertise to regional Account Executives by supporting sales calls, delivering product demonstrations, and assisting with business development efforts.
- Collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams on field trials of new products, providing hands-on support and real-time feedback.
- Travel up to 20% annually outside of the Permian Basin as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of EFMs, RTUs, PLCs, and control logic systems.
- Experience with process instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices, as well as configuration and calibration.
- Proficiency with communication protocols such as analog, mV, Modbus, HART, and similar standards.
- Field experience in Oil & Gas environments.
- Familiarity with NEC code classifications for hazardous areas.
- Strong safety awareness and experience working in hazardous oilfield environments.
- Ability to schedule, manage, and execute field projects while coordinating personnel.
- Willingness to support sales and business development activities, including customer meetings and demonstrations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Positive, solution-oriented mindset with a “never give up” attitude.
- Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and humility in customer support interactions.
- Safeland, H2S and HSE training and certifications required.
Preferred Qualifications
- General understanding of wireless communications, radio propagation, and radio provisioning.
- Experience with chemical applications and familiarity with chemical service provider metrics and common operational challenges.
- General knowledge of upstream and midstream automation applications.
- Familiarity with NEC standards.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician certification (preferred).
