Plasma Coating Operator – Industrial Gas Turbine Components
Position Summary
Operate plasma spray equipment to prepare, coat, inspect, and process industrial gas turbine components. Apply protective coatings that improve wear, corrosion resistance, and thermal performance while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor plasma spray equipment.
- Apply thermal barrier, bond coat, abradable, and wear-resistant coatings.
- Prepare parts through grit blasting, masking, cleaning, and surface preparation.
- Inspect coating thickness, finish, and quality.
- Read blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain production and inspection records.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred).
- 3+ years of plasma or thermal spray coating experience.
- Experience with industrial gas turbine components (blades, vanes, shrouds, combustion and compressor components).
- Knowledge of plasma spray, HVOF, and coating applications.
- Ability to read blueprints and use inspection equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Plasma spray certification.
- Experience with robotic/automated coating systems.
- Lean Manufacturing experience.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Wear required PPE.
- Work in a manufacturing environment.
