American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele RN experience.

Float pool position covering all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the hospital
-
Large academic teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center — 637 licensed beds
-
Med/Surg units range from 20–36 beds per unit

Patient population includes acute and chronic disease, common co-morbidities (diabetes, hypertension, infections, electrolyte imbalances), cardiac patients (post-cath, CHF, A-fib), and post-surgical patients (general, ortho, trauma)

Patient ratios: RN 1:4–6, LPN 1:4–6, CNA up to 1:14

Required telemetry skills include monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms, post-cath care, TR band management, and post-cath groin site management (no sheath pulls)

Required drip management includes insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, and nicardipine — titration for HR only, not BP
-
Required clinical skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts and IV maintenance, glucommander, patient assessment, care coordination, discharge planning, and patient education

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Philips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, and Nova Glucose Stat Strips

12-hour night shifts, 7p–7a, 36 hours per week
-
Weekend rotation: 6 shifts per 6-week schedule cycle

No on-call or callback requirements

Holiday coverage required: one shift per major holiday grouping (Thanksgiving Day or day after; 12/24 or 12/25; 12/31 or 1/1)

Active GA RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Med/Surg certification is a plus
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible

Float pool role — required to float to all Med/Surg Telemetry units throughout the facility as needed
-
Support staff includes CNAs (vitals, glucose checks, baths, patient mobility), unit secretaries (on-unit 7a–11p, then house-wide), charge nurses, a PICC team, discharge and resource nurses, and RT/Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage 24/7

Central telemetry monitoring unit provides additional telemetry support

Candidate will be required to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding

Orientation includes 1 day of general facility orientation with educational modules plus 2 days of departmental orientation

RTO requests must be approved by the unit manager

Scrub color for RNs is navy
