Job Description
At Clear Springs Family Dentistry, hygiene is about much more than cleaning teeth.
Our hygienists are healthcare providers who play an important role in diagnosing disease, educating patients, improving periodontal health, and helping patients understand the connection between their oral health and overall wellness.
We believe in quality over quantity. We're looking for an RDH who wants the time, technology, clinical support, and autonomy to provide exceptional care—not simply move patients through a hygiene column.
Responsibilities
- Provide thorough, patient-centered preventive and periodontal care with an emphasis on comfort, education, and long-term health
- Perform prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, and other hygiene therapies based on each patient's clinical needs
- Perform comprehensive periodontal assessments, including periodontal charting, bleeding points, recession, mobility, and other indicators of periodontal health
- Identify signs of periodontal disease and work collaboratively with the doctor to develop appropriate treatment recommendations
- Educate patients about periodontal disease, caries risk, home care, nutrition, and the oral-systemic connection
- Utilize modern preventive and periodontal technology, including GBT/AirFlow
- Participate in our saliva testing program to help identify bacterial risk factors and guide individualized preventive and periodontal care
- Take high-quality diagnostic radiographs and intraoral images according to clinical need and office protocols
- Review medical histories, medications, vital signs, and relevant health changes that may affect dental treatment
- Make individualized home-care recommendations based on each patient's needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach
- Partner with patients to help them understand the why behind their treatment, giving them the information they need to make informed decisions about their health
- Maintain accurate, thorough clinical documentation in Open Dental
- Work collaboratively with the doctor, clinical team, and business team to create a seamless patient experience
- Maintain excellent infection-control, sterilization, and patient-safety standards
- Build genuine relationships with patients and help create the kind of dental experience that makes them want to return
Who We're Looking For
We aren't looking for a "prophy princess" who simply wants to clean teeth and move on to the next patient.
We're looking for a hygienist who is curious, clinically engaged, and invested in improving health.
Our ideal hygienist:
- Sees themselves as a healthcare provider, not simply someone who performs cleanings
- Is confident identifying and discussing periodontal disease
- Enjoys educating patients and helping them understand what's happening in their mouths
- Wants to continue learning and growing clinically
- Values prevention and early intervention
- Understands that great patient care includes both clinical excellence and genuine human connection
- Communicates confidently while remaining warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental
- Enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
- Takes ownership of their schedule, documentation, patient experience, and clinical recommendations
- Is comfortable with technology and willing to learn new systems and techniques
- Values doing things well—not simply doing them fast
Experience with Open Dental, GBT/AirFlow, periodontal therapy, saliva testing, and comprehensive preventive care is a plus, but we're happy to train the right hygienist who shares our philosophy.
A current Texas RDH license and required certifications are necessary.
What You'll Find at Clear Springs
- Strong compensation that reflects the value you bring as a healthcare provider
- A doctor who genuinely values and supports the hygiene department
- Appointment times designed around providing excellent care—not simply maximizing volume
- A well-developed periodontal program
- GBT/AirFlow and modern clinical technology
- Saliva testing and an emphasis on prevention and oral-systemic health
- Continuing education, training, and opportunities to grow
- A collaborative team that has your back
- A privately owned practice where your ideas and contributions matter
- Patients who notice—and appreciate—the difference
