Job Overview
Mortuary Support Services of Northern California is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our Sacramento warehouse. This role is responsible for supervising warehouse processes, maintaining decedent inventory, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting funeral home, hospital, donor, and crematory operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including decedent intake, storage, releases, and inventory control.
- Maintain accurate inventory and location tracking within company software and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.
- Collaborate with the Dispatcher to coordinate daily transport schedules, prepare decedents and required documentation, and ensure timely transfers to crematories, funeral homes, research organizations, and other partner agencies.
- Ensure all decedents are handled with dignity, respect, and in accordance with company policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitor cooler capacity and warehouse organization to maintain efficient operations.
- Conduct routine inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
- Oversee warehouse equipment, supplies, fleet readiness, and facility maintenance.
- Maintain OSHA-compliant workplace safety standards and ensure employees follow proper lifting techniques, PPE requirements, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse environment, including routine housekeeping, sanitation, and janitorial duties.
- Ensure all preparation areas, coolers, storage areas, equipment, and common spaces are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with company policies and health and safety standards.
- Partner with Operations Management to improve workflows, identify process improvements, and maintain operational excellence.
- Respond professionally to funeral homes, hospitals, coroners, and internal staff regarding warehouse-related matters.
Skills
- Previous warehouse, operations, logistics, funeral service, healthcare, or transportation management experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience managing inventory and maintaining accurate records.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing inventory management software and electronic documentation systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
- Valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely lift, push, and maneuver up to 300 pounds with assistance and work in a physically demanding environment.
