We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator to join our construction team, bringing expertise in assessing project costs and preparing accurate bids for commercial construction projects. Duties
- 1. Work in conjunction with the sales team.
- 2. Gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- 3. Read and interpret bid specifications and drawings.
- 4. Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask questions.
- 5. Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- 6. Determine costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- 7. Develop RFI’s and clarifications to ensure bids are as complete as possible.
- 8. Contact suppliers for quotes.
- 9. Coordinate daily meetings with sales team.
- 10. Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain accurate pricing.
- 11. Work through Excel template to create proposal.
- 12. Ensure bids are prepared timely and accurately.
- 13. Review drawings and highlight any discrepancies and areas of concern.
- 14. Review budget and highlight any areas of concern.
- 15. File all documentation in the designated ShareFile folders indicated.
- 16. Perform other job duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proficiency in Excel, AutoCAD and other drawing stuff (is a plus)
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Experience with HeavyBid, Xactimate, and other estimating software platforms
- Solid understanding of construction management software and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word) for data analysis and reporting
- Expertise in reading construction drawings and technical specifications for accurate material quantity takeoffs
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documents effectively
- Knowledge of cost management principles including material cost estimating, cost control strategies, and budget estimation techniques
- Construction industry experience with a focus on commercial projects; familiarity with contracts and project management processes is highly desirable
- Hands-on construction site experience that enhances understanding of field conditions impacting estimates
- Strong communication skills for client interaction, team collaboration, and presenting detailed estimates confidently
