Freelance Tailor — Joshua Gold Custom Clothier
We are a high-end men’s custom clothier located in Royal Oak seeking an experienced freelance tailor to support our busy studio on an as-needed basis. In this role you will:
- Perform high-quality alterations, fittings and adjustments for bespoke suits, jackets, trousers and shirts.
- Work closely with our in-house team to ensure flawless workmanship, excellent fit, and premium finish.
- Demonstrate a strong eye for detail: clean seams, proper pressing, accurate hemming, re-setting pockets/linings etc.
- Manage your time independently, reliably showing up for scheduled fittings and delivering work on agreed timelines.
- Maintain the look and feel of a luxury service — the clients we serve expect precision, refinement and excellent turnaround.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of tailoring/alteration experience, preferably in a custom menswear or luxury setting.
- Proven ability with formal wear (suits, sport coats, trousers) and bespoke alterations (canvas jackets, hand-worked details strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills (you may liaise with clients or the front-desk team in some cases).
- Strong reliability, professionalism, presentation and a passion for craftsmanship.
- Own tools and equipment needed (This is a pickup/delivery relationship to begin with).
- Ability to work on a freelance/contract basis (you set your schedule with us; we’ll reach out for project/filling support when needed).
