Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and slicers
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and cooking areas to uphold food safety standards
- Assist in meal assembly, plating, and presentation to ensure visually appealing dishes
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and meet service timelines
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure safety compliance
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings with a focus on culinary excellence
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient portioning
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Experience with dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with special dietary needs
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen team members
- Background in the food industry or culinary arts is highly desirable, along with catering experience if available
