Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and programming CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce precision components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will drive quality and efficiency in our production processes. Our programmer is essential to design and create parts that will be used in our rebuild shop.
Duties
- Program, set up, and operate CNC machines including lathes and milling centers to produce high-quality parts according to specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing instructions to ensure accurate production.
- Utilize BobCAD/CAM software
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions.
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Follow manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
- Assist with tooling selection, setup adjustments, welding tasks when necessary, and assembly of machined components.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and process parameters for quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills
- Proven proficiency in CNC programming.
- Strong knowledge of BobCAD/CAM software including CAM programming tools.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes involving CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and other precision machining techniques.
- Expertise in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid grasp of tooling selection, geometry calculations, and the use of precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
- Ability to read schematics and electrical diagrams related to machine operation.
- Strong math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feeds & speeds, and geometric relationships.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail to troubleshoot machining issues effectively.
