6th-8th Grade SOCIAL STUDIES/HISTORY Teacher
The 6th-8th grade SS/H teacher is responsible for the instruction and curriculum implementation in the area of Social Studies/History, and extended classroom activities associated with SS/H in grades sixth, seven and eight.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Enjoy middle school students and intentionally develop relationships with them to support the students as they grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, etc.
- Have a passion for fostering a love of learning, reading, writing, and critical thinking
- Desire to differentiate in order to honor students' readiness levels.
- Value providing meaningful feedback on student work.
- Provide academic subject instruction in social studies/history, ensuring that the curriculum map, school standards and schedule are followed.
- Provide learning experiences centered around individual student readiness. Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, hands-on learning and projects, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving children feedback on completed work to insure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner.
- Confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities.
- Communicate with families on a weekly basis about schedule, assignments, events, and individual student needs. Meet with families during scheduled conferences during the school year.
- Maintain grades and curriculum assessments online.
- Attend weekly faculty meetings, team meetings, and other meetings as needed.
- Exhibits enthusiasm for Social Studies and History
- Collaborates as a team player with teaching colleagues and administration.
- Sees the school as a community.
- Supports school by attending school sponsored events and activities.
- Commits to ongoing professional development via workshop attendance, visiting other schools, and webinars.
- Learns new skills and integrates technology as changing pedagogy dictates.
- Models self-disciplined and ethical behavior.
- Ability to teach a Middle School chapel a minimum of two times a year.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty exceptionally. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required in the field of education, Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years teaching experience. Preference given to those with experience in grades 4-12.
Certificates, licenses, registrations
- A current teaching license issued by the State of Arizona and/or ACSI (or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment)
Professional demeanor and characteristics
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, leadership, collaboration, and independent thinking. Must possess strong people skills and emotional intelligence when dealing with students, parents, and colleagues, as well as a demonstrated understanding of and investment in the mission of Casas Christian School. Ability to lead students with the grace and love modeled by Jesus Christ.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
