About the Position:
GPTech is seeking an experienced
Construction Manager (CM) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrades Program. The Construction Manager will provide onsite construction management services throughout project execution, ensuring construction activities comply with project specifications, VA standards, quality requirements, and schedule milestones.
Working closely with the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR), contractors, design teams, and project stakeholders, the Construction Manager will monitor field activities, coordinate construction documentation, support issue resolution, and assist in successful project delivery. This position is
full-time and onsite at the Montrose VA Medical Center in
Bath, NY, for the duration of the project.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite construction management support throughout construction activities.
- Review contractor submittals to verify compliance with contract documents, VA standards, and project specifications.
- Coordinate and maintain submittal logs and construction documentation.
- Track Requests for Information (RFIs), responses, and project correspondence.
- Monitor construction schedules with emphasis on milestones, material deliveries, inspections, testing, and workflow.
- Perform routine field inspections and document construction progress.
- Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential construction issues, reporting findings to the VA COR.
- Assist with development of corrective actions and issue resolution strategies.
- Verify field conditions and assist with preparation and maintenance of as-built drawings.
- Support commissioning activities and project closeout documentation.
- Attend project meetings and provide construction status reports.
- Monitor long-lead procurement items and communicate schedule impacts.
- Assist with claims analysis, field investigations, and construction troubleshooting.
- Maintain daily construction reports and project documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and construction management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of construction management or construction inspection experience.
- Experience supporting commercial, healthcare, or federal construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, building codes, and quality control processes.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience coordinating RFIs, submittals, inspections, and contractor activities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Construction Quality Management (CQM), or similar professional certification.
- Experience supporting VA construction projects.
- Experience working on healthcare facilities or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and healthcare construction standards.
- Experience supporting Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 annually (Pay Band 4A)
