Overview
HI Management, an Indiana based residential property management company, is seeking a Property Accountant to join our team in Carmel, Indiana!
In this role, you will oversee financial operations related to property management, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective financial analysis. Your expertise will support the financial health of our properties and contribute to the overall success of our portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Perform planning, coordination and administration of general accounting activities.
- Prepare and maintain journal entries.
- Assist with monthly financial statements and budget-to-actual reports.
- Assist with accounts payable processing.
- Track fixed assets and prepare quarterly replacement reserve requests.
- Compile summary reports for management use.
- Perform resident ledger corrections.
- Process resident utility billings.
- Overseeing collection filing process.
- Maintain communication and coordination with other team members to gather financial information used to prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Assist employees, vendors, owners, or residents by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Other miscellaneous projects as assigned
Experience:
- Property management: 2 years (Preferred)
- Yardi: 1 year (Preferred)
- Accounting: 2 years (Required)
Skills
- Strong knowledge of corporate accounting principles, GAAP, and technical accounting standards
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Yardi, Sage, PeopleSoft, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
- Experience with financial report writing, interpretation, and presentation for stakeholders
- Expertise in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger management
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance including SOX controls and governmental accounting practices
- Ability to analyze financial data related to property operations, cash flow management, and budgeting processes
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Knowledge of tax regulations relevant to non-profit accounting and securities law is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff or team members in accounting best practices
