Summary:
KCC’s Learning and Development (L&D) team is growing to include a Refrigeration Training Supervisor. The ideal candidate will be experienced in KCC’s refrigeration operations (brazing, following piping diagrams, installing refrigeration components, and conducting refrigeration quality inspections), passionate about sharing their knowledge to help others achieve peak performance, and committed to leadership principles. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be committed to working with their various stakeholders and furthering their understanding of adult learning in a manufacturing environment. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
Essential Functions or Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of Managed On-the-Job Training (MOJT) checklists (training documentation) that will be used to onboard newly hired and promoted Refrigeration Techs and Assembly Techs assigned to work in refrigeration areas at KCC manufacturing sites.
- Partner with Team Leads and Supervisors as they conduct the MOJT checklist evaluations (3,6, and 12 weeks) for newly hired and promoted employees involved in Refrigeration functions.
- Analyze applicable MOJT checklists and other training opportunity documentation and offer solutions.
- Develop and facilitate standardized training regimens based on skill gap analysis, quality standards, and stakeholder feedback.
- Plan, develop, launch, and evaluate a replicable and scalable “Brazing Excellence” training program that leads to certification of this critical skill in manufacturing settings.
- Collaborate with L&D team subject matter experts to develop training aids and resources.
- Facilitate and improve onboarding (safety, tools, work hardening, etc.) for all newly hired and promoted hourly production personnel.
- Coordinate the acquisition of materials necessary to conduct new hire onboarding.
- Contribute to other training projects as requested.
- Represent the L&D team at meetings as requested.
- Report directly to the Production Training Manager.
Additional Responsibilities (if needed):
- Consult with Production Leadership to identify and resolve training needs.
- Maintain training records using the company’s learning management system (Cornerstone/KCC Learns).
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action workshops to address performance gaps.
- Collaborate with Quality and Technical Support to ensure findings from field investigations are incorporated into L&D training and MOJT checklists.
Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements:
- Proven record of good attendance (less than 8 attendance points if internal applicant).
- 6 months in his or her current department (if internal applicant).
- Must be able to occasionally work 3rd shift hours (as needed).
- Expert-level understanding of brazing in a manufacturing environment and strong knowledge of refrigeration processes as demonstrated by at least 3 years of experience.
- Experience in training or a related field (familiarity with adult learning theory is a plus).
- Ability to discern individual team members’ level of comprehension and adapt teaching methods to best suit their needs.
- Strong teamwork and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Must demonstrate the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) OR the ability to learn these applications.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required for this position.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to basic Human Resource principles.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a challenging and rewarding role.
Safety/Physical Requirements:
- Requires bending, stooping, and standing.
- Must be able to stand for 6 to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to travel to KCC manufacturing sites and work occasional hours outside of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Good visual and spatial perception.
- Follow established safety policies including, but not limited to, mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, first aid response, etc.
