This role provides junior-level staffing and personnel processing support one of our Federal clients HR operations. The Associate HR Specialist supports the execution of Federal staffing and personnel actions by performing transactional processing, documentation review, case file maintenance, system updates, and routine staffing support activities under the guidance of senior staff and team leadership.
This role is responsible for accurately processing assigned actions, maintaining required trackers and documentation, supporting high-volume staffing operations, and ensuring work is completed timely in accordance with established procedures, Federal HR regulations, and operational quality standards. The Associate HR Specialist works in a production-focused environment and escalates complex or non-routine issues to Senior HR personnel as appropriate.
Key Job Duties
Prepare documentation for, and code Standard Form (SF) 52s for personnel actions including:
- Temporary hiring actions
- Career ladder promotions
- Time-limited promotions
- Temporary details
- Work schedule changes
- Duty station changes
- Reassignments
- Related personnel processing activities
Prepare case files, qualification worksheets, personnel action documentation, and required supporting materials for review and processing.
Enter, update, and maintain accurate information in staffing systems, personnel systems, and operational tracking tools.
Update workload trackers and workflow systems to accurately reflect assigned actions, processing status, completed actions, returned actions, and pending items.
Support onboarding processing activities, action routing, notifications, and required documentation preparation.
Escalate complex technical questions, eligibility issues, incomplete actions, or exceptions to senior staff or Team Leads.
Participate in training, coaching, quality improvement initiatives, and process standardization efforts.
