Psychiatrist Medical Director – Residential Mental Health

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Psychiatrist Medical Director to join our Residential Mental Health program in Fort Myers, Florida. This leadership role is ideal for a psychiatrist passionate about providing high-quality psychiatric care while supporting an interdisciplinary treatment team in a residential setting.
The Psychiatrist Medical Director will provide clinical oversight and psychiatric services for adult mental health patients, including weekly onsite visits, medication management oversight, treatment planning collaboration, and supervision/collaboration with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments for residential mental health patients
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders through evidence-based psychiatric care
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications as clinically appropriate
- Provide weekly onsite visits to the facility
- Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), therapists, nursing staff, and clinical leadership
- Provide physician collaboration and supervision as required by state regulations and facility policy
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical case reviews
- Review documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
- Active Florida medical license in good standing
- DEA license required
- Experience in residential behavioral health, substance use, or acute psychiatric settings preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Passion for patient-centered mental health treatment and team development
