Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and gait analysis to identify foot and ankle issues.
- Develop personalized treatment plans encompassing medical, surgical, and rehabilitative strategies tailored to each patient's needs.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as medical imaging and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems to document findings accurately and track patient progress.
- Perform minor surgical procedures, wound care, and podiatric interventions with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals—including orthopedists, radiologists, endocrinologists, and primary care providers—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on foot health management, injury prevention, proper footwear choices, and lifestyle modifications for optimal outcomes.
- Stay current with emerging trends in podiatric medicine by engaging in clinical research, continuing education, and specialty certifications such as botulinum toxin treatment or diabetic foot care.
Requirements
- Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure to practice podiatry.
- Post-residency experience in a clinical setting demonstrating proficiency in diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions.
- Strong knowledge of medical imaging techniques, EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms, and CPT coding for procedures.
- Experience performing surgical procedures including suturing, wound care management, and minor surgeries.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary collaboration across specialties such as endocrinology, orthopedics, radiology, dermatology, cardiology, and emergency medicine.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and empathetically.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring patient confidentiality and data security.
- Ability to work efficiently in inpatient or outpatient settings with hospital experience preferred.
