Associate Interior Designer (Independent Subcontractor)
Williamsville, NY (Hybrid / Project-Based)
I am seeking a talented, detail-oriented Associate Interior Designer to join our team as an independent subcontractor. This position is ideal for an experienced designer who enjoys collaborating on high-end residential projects while maintaining the flexibility of independent work.
The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, creative, and confident managing multiple projects while providing exceptional service to clients.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and execution of residential interior design projects from concept through installation.
- Prepare design presentations, finish selections, furniture plans, and specifications.
- Source furnishings, lighting, textiles, artwork, and accessories through trade vendors.
- Create and maintain accurate drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and workrooms.
- Conduct site visits, field measurements, and installation appointments.
- Manage project timelines and communicate project updates.
- Ensure accuracy of product orders and specifications.
- Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail throughout each project.
Qualifications
- Degree in Interior Design or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of residential interior design experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar design software.
- Experience with Studio Designer (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of furniture construction, textiles, lighting, and finish materials.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the lead designer.
- Reliable transportation for local project visits.
Independent Contractor Requirements
- Must operate as an independent contractor and be responsible for all applicable taxes and insurance.
- Ability to provide your own computer, software, and transportation.
- Flexible schedule with availability during normal business hours for meetings, site visits, and installations.
- Compensation is based on an agreed-upon hourly subcontractor rate.
